A Little Bit About Me

The very first time I ever traveled outside of the United States I was five. I went with my family to Mexico for a spring break trip. I loved playing on the beach, listening to mariachi music, eating local foods, and learning Spanish from locals. My family has cultivated a desire to travel the world and learn about different cultures since I was very young. I have now traveled to 14 different countries, seen so many beautiful cultures around the world, learned Spanish, and lived in Costa Rica for five months.

In addition to my desire to explore the world, I have always been passionate about health. When I was in elementary school, I was the designated classroom nurse, and that really meant I just gave other kids band aids whenever they scraped their knees during recess; however, the eagerness I felt to help others grew as I got older.

My college education has helped me to learn just how I can fulfill both my desire to travel and my passion of helping others. My classes at Clemson University have educated me on the importance of unrestricted access to high quality healthcare, and just how few people have this access. Having the ability to speak another language and a background in public health has prepared me for a career helping people in communities around the world to live the best lives possible. I hope to connect people with the resources they need to be healthy and happy in my future career. More than anything, I hope I can have a part in making healthcare equal, equitable, and accessible for everyone in the future.
